Hey there.
Your storage, your rules. Your files live in your own Pixeldrain account: upload one below, or connect that account in Settings if you haven't yet.

Emails and attachments that PhoenixMail saved for you. Only PhoenixMail writes here, so nothing is mixed with your own files. They are private: they cannot be shared by link.

TimeVault
TimeVault is a small background app for your computer that automatically backs up folders you choose — photos, documents, anything — straight into your PixelDrop storage, every few days. Backed-up files are private: they can never be shared or linked, even by you.
It's included with Membre, which also unlocks Drop Requests.
- Private and encrypted. Files are locked on your computer before they're sent. Only your recovery key opens them — not even PixelDrop can read them.
- You choose the schedule. Each folder is backed up every 2, 5, 10 or 15 days, and only new or changed files are sent.
- Change it any time in the PixelDrop Backup app on your computer — open it from the system tray to add or remove folders, change how often each one is backed up, or restore your files.
Your computers
No computers yet — follow the steps below to back up your first one.
Set up your first computer
A small app for your computer with its own window. You pick the folders, it backs them up in the background.
Download for Windows Download for Linux (.deb) Mac version coming soon.Linux: install and update with apt
For Ubuntu, Debian and Linux Mint. Paste this single line into a terminal: it installs the app with its icon and menu entry — no installer window and no warning — and updates then arrive with your other system updates.
Opening the .deb in Ubuntu's App Center shows a “third-party package” notice. That is normal for any program that doesn't come from Ubuntu's own store; the apt method above doesn't show it.
Gives you a code — copy it, you'll need it in step 3.
Open PixelDrop Backup (from your applications menu once it is installed). A window asks for the code from step 2, then you create your recovery key and choose which folders to back up. After that it keeps working quietly from your system tray.
Backups
Grouped by the day they synced. They're encrypted, so they can't be opened here — restore them from the PixelDrop Backup app. Lost your recovery key?
Contacts
Other PixelDrop users
Add someone by their PixelDrop ID. They must accept, then you can send each other files directly.
- Ask your friend for their PixelDrop ID. It is shown on their Contacts page, under “Your PixelDrop ID”.
- Type any name you like for them, paste their ID, then press “Ask to connect”. They receive your request on their Activity page.
- Once they accept, they appear under “Send to…” on every file. Until then they show as “waiting for their answer” in the list below.

Drop Requests
Drop Requests let anyone send you a file through a link — no PixelDrop account needed on their end. It lands in your storage under the label you give the link, and the link closes itself the moment that happens (or when it expires, whichever comes first).
It's included with Membre, which also unlocks TimeVault.

Membre
Billed yearly. Uploading and managing your files stays free either way — Membre unlocks sharing by link, Drop Requests, TimeVault, proof of existence and connected apps.
Users
When this is off, visitors only see the home page and the login form and can't sign up. People who already have an account still log in normally.
Membre plan
Change what Membre costs. Takes effect for the next purchase — people who already bought in keep what they paid for.

Connections and devices
Not connected — PixelDrop has no storage of its own: connect your Pixeldrain account to store files.
With a free Pixeldrain plan, Pixeldrain may limit a file that is opened or downloaded very often (it asks for a captcha); a paid Pixeldrain plan removes this. A share link of your files sends people to the file's own page on Pixeldrain.
PixelDrop saves your files on Pixeldrain, a free file-hosting service. To use your own space you need a free Pixeldrain account and its API key — a long, password-like code that lets PixelDrop save files into your account.
- Create a free Pixeldrain account, or log in if you already have one. Open Pixeldrain
- Open the API keys page and press “Create new API key”. Name it PixelDrop. Open the API keys page
- Copy the NEW key, come back here and paste it below. Do not copy the key called “Pixeldrain website”: it is your browser’s sign-in, and it stops working when you sign out of pixeldrain.com or switch to another account.
PixelDrop stores your key encrypted and only uses it to save and read your files.
Not detected on this computer.
The PixelDrop desktop app sends your files straight from this computer to your own Pixeldrain account: faster, and nothing passes through PixelDrop's servers. It is needed to keep uploading from a computer once your free 15 days are over.
- Download and install the app. Download for Windows Download for Linux (.deb)
- On Linux you can instead install it with one line in a terminal:
- Click the button below to get a one-time code, then paste it into the app.
Send photos and files from your phone straight to PixelDrop through the Share menu. Set up in a few taps.
For scripts and other tools
A personal key lets your own scripts send files to PixelDrop. Each key is listed above with your phones, and can be removed on its own. Guide
